Potty training is an exciting time for both parents and children. Parents see the light at the end of the diapering tunnel and kids feel a the pride of being a "big kid". Training pants need to be absorbent and are usually designed to look more like "big kid" underwear than a cloth diaper. Training pants have fun designs and a trimmer cut to not only look good by themselves but also to fit better under clothes. They are also usually designed to be pull on-pull off rather than the "on the back" changing method for younger diaper wearers.
EC, or elimination communication pants (and some training pants) offer a variety of snaps or velcro to allow the pant to be removed partially or fully while the wearer is standing up, allowing for quick trips to the bathroom or easier removal in the case of a messy miss.
